There is similar confusion in the US colony of Puerto Rico. After some 400 years under Spain and under the US since 1898 there is a hodgepodge analogous to the one you describe in Canada. Our road signs and physical addresses are in kilometers and hectometers. We buy gasoline by liters but bottled gas by pounds. We shop for food in pounds and ounces. Land is measure in cuerdas which is a bit smaller than an acre and meteres. Old folks and farmers still use the quintal as a measurement (100 kilograms). I could go on, but you did it so well I’ll just add one more. We use US Currency, of course, but it is common to call the US dollar a peso, a quarter a peseta, a nickle a vellón, and a penny a chavo. Got that?
