Love this! I had on my someday to-list list a piece about mailboxes in Puerto Rico, buy as Dennett correctly pointed out, US Postal rules are pretty rigid. There are none as interesting as yours. What attracted me is the varying conditions, from shiny new to piles of rusted boxes clinging precariously to a single post. My late father-in-law had a concrete mail house built for all our rather remote rural neighborhood. There are about 20 boxes , 10 in each row. That is pretty much the number of families within five miles of my house. My wife inherited the “post house” and as such is in charge of having the structure mantained. Packages that don’t fit in the standard size boxes are delivered directly to our homes, by Emily, our mail carrier.
