Interesting! I also found the Caravaggio/Ripley connection fascinating. I don’t remember it being in Highsmith’s book, either, but it certainly enriches the new Ripley. I have to see it again—I was overwhelmed by the incredible cinematography in Black and White-although reintroduced to the story of Caravaggio’s art.
