Gravity

Stammering and stumbling

A trip on this tortuous trail
Has twists and turns,
As devious as a steep stream
Rushing toward an inexorable termination

By drowning in the sea.
Could it not be circuitous
Along resurrected rocks and uprooted bends,
Backwaters raised aloft by rowdy reeds?

Can I retrace the steps of time?
Perhaps. But only by taking devious detours,
Mocked by the earth’s endless spin
That pins, paralyzes, then pulls me down.
