Chiqui and I will be alone during that holiday. We don’t celebrate it, and even the winter solstice doesn’t make much sense in the tropics. However, we enjoy the cultural aspects of each season, decorate a little, and have a special dinner for the two of us on Hanukah, Christmas Day, etc.

The kids spend most holidays with their spouses and their inlaws.—both of them (the spouses not our kids!) are Roman Catholics (What else would you expect on a former Spanish island!}

Fortunately the spouses are liberal and accept our family’s “neutrality."
