Brrrr. I think there is something wrong with my genes—my ancestors—all of them—were German. Yet when I first visited the tropics, I felt overwhelmingly at home. I now have lived in tropical summer year-round for 60+ years, with only a few trips to intemperate lands.

I relate to that boor’s comment. I am sometimes criticized for not attending weddings or funerals in the winter months.

I missed the cold weather gene, and I am not sorry.
